James H. Huggins was born about 1820 in South Carolina.  We know from the 1850 census of San Augustine, Texas that he was a carpenter.  As yet, I have not discovered exactly when or where James was born nor who his parents were.  

In April 1844, he married Augusta Louisa Trowbridge in San Augustine, Texas.  Augusta was born in 1821 in Rochester, New York.  She was the daughter of Charles Edwin Trowbridge and Mary Ann Bailey.   I will eventually be putting all the Trowbridge information I have on this site but for right now there is only a very small amount of basic information there.

In December 1844, in San Augustine,  their son, William Frederick Huggins, was born.  

I have a great deal of information about Augusta's parents and ancestors, but virtually nothing else about her or James after the 1850 census.  Hopefully, I'll learn more as I continue researching.
